Project Synopsis
Ultra wideband (UWB) technology is receiving worldwide
attention because of its very high data capacity,
its low RF power consumption and its ability to coexist
with other wireless systems and propagate reliably
in cluttered and obstructed environments. CIT has
developed unique expertise in the design of UWB hardware,
particularly in the area of pulse shaping and filtering,
and is working on applications of UWB such as multimedia
data transfer, UWB radar for high resolution location
and tracking applications and on UWB tagging. This
work is taking place in the context of the HEA PRTLI
NEMBES programme and also in collaboration with Irish
industry.
